Ok. This is the plan: Translate an ancient Arabic book to English. Without throwing roadblocks in the way, this is a work in progress. Details and context uploaded as I find time. 

Last night, I heard about a book that I wanted to read. It's never been translated, and I don't speak Arabic. I don't know if this will work, but lets see how it goes. Ideally it will become a collaborative project, because there will be a lot of errors. I'm going to take the pages of the book, convert them to text, and feed the text through a translation app. Here we go: page one of ‘Ajā’ib al-makhlūqāt wa-gharā’ib al-mawjūdāt' by Zakariya al-Qazwini. In English:

This is from a genre of classical Islamic literature called ‘ajā’ib or ‘jā’ib al-makhlūqāt literature, which was concerned with 'mirabilia', which means cosmographical and geographical topics that challenged people's understanding of the world. (Reference). The book explores a huge range of topics, such as human biology, plants, astrology and cryptozoology.
